Elementary Education
About the Program
Elementary Education: Certification Emphasis - This program has been designed for cohorts of post baccalaureate students wishing to obtain elementary teacher certification. The objective of the MEd/certification program is to allow students who have successfully completed an academic BA/BS program to meet state requirements for standard teacher certification within a reduced time limit of four semesters while maintaining the high quality graduate course work of the College of Education that leads to institutional recommendations. In keeping with our mission, we provide a program that enhances professional practice of classroom teachers, fills local schools’ needs by providing support to attract and retain quality elementary educators, and supports K-8 student achievement through standards based curricula, teaching, and assessment. In addition to earning a master’s degree, this plan leads to an Institutional Recommendation for Elementary Teacher Certification in the State of Arizona. Students must take and pass the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments for certification. Click here for information on the sponsoring college.
Elementary Education: Continuing Professionals Emphasis - This program offers advanced courses in teaching methods, curriculum, and related areas and is appropriate if you wish to enhance your teaching skills for grades K-8. This plan is not intended to provide grades K-8 teacher certification nor does it provide an institutional recommendation for teacher certification.
