About the Program
Masters of Education - This is a 36-hour program with specializations in: School Leadership K-12, Principal K-12, Educational Foundations and Community College/Higher Education. Although designed and intended primarily for professionals working in educational settings, this degree may also be appropriate for individuals looking to assume leadership positions in other professions. Students also have an option of entering a non-degree certification program that leads to state certification as a principal or superintendent in the public schools. Doctor of Education - This program focuses on administration at the K-12 and Community College/Higher Education levels. Students will have coursework in the areas of foundations, leadership skills, professional specialization and evaluation and research. The program emphasizes developing leadership skills and applying these skills in the contemporary educational environment. Admission to this program is competitive and occurs once a year. Applications require submission of an application portfolio by the first Friday in December of each year for admission in the summer semester of the following year.
